Oscar Vernon Jr is a Guatemalan-American filmmaker who tirelessly works on his craft as a photographer, cinematographer, camera operator, screenwriter, and actor. He attended Pasadena City College where he received his Associate in Science for Film, Television & Electronic Media and Associate in Arts for Communication Arts. he went on to receive his Bachelors in Cinema and Television Arts at California State University, Northridge in screenwriting in 2024.
Oscar’s love for cinema led him to many creative positions in filmmaking. He has found himself to be enthusiastic in capturing and documenting the filming process, including behind-the-scenes moments and set details as a still photographer. Oscar is also an aspiring cinematographer and camera operator who is passionate about the art and craft of visual storytelling through film and video. Oscar works closely with his directors, cinematographers, and other production staff members to bring the director’s vision to life through the camera lens. When Oscar is in front of the camera, he is a driven actor who loves being able to interpret a script and bring a character to life as an actor. He aims to utilize his voice, body language, and facial expressions to communicate emotions that’ll connect with the audience.
Oscar is motivated in making an impact in the film industry. He looks forward in creating and collaborating with filmmakers to bring narrative works, music videos, commercials to the screen.
Oscar has been the cinematographer for "The Auteurs (2024) | Proof of Concept Pilot Episode", "Slice & Deliver: Partners in Crust (2024) | CSUN Television Narrative Short", "False Awakening (2024) | Narrative Short", and more. He has also worked on the web series "Codename: Redtape (2024) | CSUN Television Narrative Series" and "Noble Woman (2025) | CSUN Television Narrative Thesis" as a camera operator.
When not working in the camera department, Oscar has found himself in front of the lens as an actor. he has worked on narrative shorts such as: "Noodles (2023)" as Gregg, "Are You Asleep? (2024)" as Brother, "Saint (2025) | CSUN Thesis" as Referee, and "Through Her Eyes (2025) | CSUN Thesis" as a Security Guard.
